JIMMIE'S LAW

Promoting Medication Safety & Patient Protection

Inspired by Jimmie Wilson's Story

What is Jimmie's Law?

One moment changed everything - after surviving drug-induced liver injury, Jimmie now works to advance legislation to prevent similar, avoidable harm.

Jimmie’s Law is The JADA Foundation’s public safety initiative dedicated to strengthening medication safety, pharmacy accountability, and patient protection through education and responsible legislative engagement

The Need for Action

As of September 9, 2025, the FDA’s Adverse Event Reporting System had logged about 1,424 adverse-event reports associated with compounded GLP-1 drugs in the U.S., including 329 hospitalizations and 23 deaths. These figures represent the total reported to the FDA over the reporting period, not necessarily new annual cases, and likely underestimate the actual number, since many compounding pharmacies are not required to report adverse events.

Compounded Semaglutide

605 adverse event reports associated with compounded semaglutide

Compounded Trizepatide

545 adverse event reports associated with compounded tirzepatide

Total: 1,150 adverse event reports with compounded GLP-1.

Featured Legislation
HB 729 - Pharmaceutical Drug Safety

HB 729 strengthens Kentucky pharmaceutical drug safety by expanding Board of Pharmacy oversight, requiring permits for terminal distributors, enhancing inspection authority, mandating adverse event reporting, regulating compounding standards, restricting improper drug sourcing, and increasing enforcement tools to protect public health and patient safety.

The JADA Foundation supports HB 729 as a meaningful step toward strengthening pharmaceutical oversight, enhancing compounding and distribution safeguards, and improving adverse event reporting to better protect patients and promote medication safety across the Commonwealth.

Representative Vanessa Grossl, Republican, District 88, officially files the regular session 2026, House Bill 729.
